- Directional Movement: Movement in art
- Rhythm: A reoccurring pattern.
- Proportion / Scale: Scale - size of an object in relation to another object. Proportion - relative size to parts of a whole
- Balance: the way the elements in a piece are arranged
- Unity: What gives the artwork cohesiveness - what ties it together.
- Harmony: Brings together a composition with similar units.
- Contrast: the arrangement of opposite elements
- Emphasis (Focal Point / Center of interest: The artist makes part of the work stand out, in order to draw the viewer's eye there first. The focal point is the center of interest or activity in a work of art.
